Message from HIC President

Greetings of gratitude!

I gratefully convey these greetings to everyone who have involved themselves in the concerns and undertakings of the Holy Infant College whether as student, faculty, staff, administrator, parent, alumna/alumnus, and friend. We have made it known to the public that all those who passed the portals of HIC are considered alumni of the school.

This year is the 87th year of the Holy Infant College from the time it was founded. On this 87th year, we hurdled challenges we thought we would not be able to make due to so many constraints, foremost of which is financial. On September 24, 2011 we celebrate the 1st anniversary of the Mother of Mercy Hospital. It started only as a dream hospital for we could not imagine how we would be able to start much less to finish it due to financial difficulty. We are in Eastern Visayas, the region that is considered depressed, and everyone knows that. Despite odds, we braved to gamble by building the hospital which was conceived to meet a need. Aside from the need to provide our Nursing Program with a training facility, the passion to be of service to people in need of health care in a depressed area inspired the Religious Sisters of Mercy to respond with courage.

We are so encouraged with the kindness and support of our friends and alumni. With meager savings of the Sisters of Mercy and some substantial amount received from generous friends abroad, we took courage to break the ground on August 8, 2008. Getting our funds was like gathering shells from the seashore. It is like paddling our canoe against the current as until now we are still struggling with financing concerns.

We want to be able to give compassionate, efficient and effective health care service to those in need so we continually solicit for help from kindhearted friends and generous benefactors. We thank God for warm response surprisingly from people we don't know or have not met before. We continually praise the Lord God of Mercy and Love for sending helpful people to us. We commend to our dear Mother of Mercy the concerns of those who are so enthusiastic to lend a hand. We ask the Holy Infant Jesus for special blessings of peace and joy to all those who come to the rescue when we get alarmed with a wall of difficulties. Please God, we shall overcome someday, and unfold a functional special program for the poor. We urge all our alumni to share the blessings you have received from God. - SR. CARMELA N.
